Good Afternoon Parents!
This week has been very busy! Re-establishing classroom expectations and learning about each other has been a wonderful experience :) Each morning we start with a Mathematical problem such as the Set Puzzle from the New York Times. With pattern identifying and critical thinking, students are exercising their brains in creative ways to push their understanding. https://www.nytimes.com/crosswords/game/set/?page=set&difficulty=&_r=1&difficulty=&page=set& This Wednesday we went Telus Spark Center and students attended a workshop called "Mix It!" Students discovered solutions which were acidity, neutral or basic. They then mixed solid substances with these solutions to observe the chemical reaction. After, we visited the Sky & Earth exhibit, Energy & Resources exhibit as well as the Human Body exhibit where students drank out of a toilet fountain. We had a blast and we have to thank our amazing volunteers Mrs. D & Mrs. R. THANK YOU for the bottom of our hearts. On Thursday we had the Terry Fox Run in the afternoon. Students ran laps to raise awareness for cancer! To finish off the week, we had a safety presentation from Constable Johnson! He taught us what to do when we see unsafe object and how to handle these types of situations. We then practiced the Lockdown procedure so we know what to do, if or when our school suddenly becomes unsafe. Lots more learning to come! Please stay posted :) Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
